Mail-Client & Browser Gate Options¶
The daily security question can meet your employees where they already work. As well as appearing at the BongoShield sign-in page, the daily gate can be delivered right inside their email app or web-based tools.
You can pick whichever option fits your organization best. Setup for each of these is guided by the BongoShield team — we'll help you deploy and configure them so the rollout is smooth.

You can also simply deliver the daily question at sign-in — see Single Sign-On — with no add-in at all. Many organizations combine sign-in delivery with one of the options above.
Microsoft Outlook add-in¶
For organizations on Microsoft 365, the Outlook add-in brings BongoShield right into the inbox:
- Presents today's security question inside Outlook, so employees complete it as part of opening their email.
- Adds a Report Phishing button to Outlook, making it effortless for employees to report suspicious messages.
- Includes a handy BongoShield side panel showing status and progress.
It works across Outlook on the web, Windows, and Mac. Your Microsoft 365 admin deploys it once for the whole organization, and the BongoShield team will walk you through it.
Roundcube webmail plugin¶
For organizations that run their own Roundcube webmail — common for government ministries and self-hosted setups — the Roundcube plugin presents the daily question when a user opens their mailbox. It's installed once on your Roundcube server, and then every user of that webmail is covered.
This is a genuine differentiator for teams that host their own email and want the daily gate built right into webmail.
Browser extension¶
The browser extension delivers the daily question in the browser, which makes it a great fit for web-based work apps and webmail generally — including Google Workspace, Zoho Mail, and other providers accessed through a browser. It's also a good companion to Single Sign-On for organizations that want the daily gate present across their web tools.
Which should I choose?¶
- On Microsoft 365? The Outlook add-in gives the richest in-inbox experience — and you can add Single Sign-On for the smoothest login.
- Running your own Roundcube webmail? The Roundcube plugin is built for you.
- On Google Workspace, Zoho, or other webmail? Use Single Sign-On plus the browser extension.
